Before Sunrise

Never saw this movie, but the sequel Before Sunset's premise seems very interesting. A question that I often ask is what it would be like to meet the girl that I had fallen head over heels for years ago, but never had the opportunity to see what could really be.

So decided to watch the first movie last night. It was actually a really good movie, definitely a movie I could relate to and I'm sure most people can see shades of their own experience in the film. Looking forward to seeing the sequel now, got it on DVD.

One thing of note, some of the psuedo-philosophical rantings in the movie were quite interesting. I especially like Ethan Hawke's observation of how if there were only some one million people thousands of years ago, and now billions, where did all the souls come from, and are we just bits of the collective now? Intersting question and I wonder how one that believes in reincarnation would answer that.

Bad Santa

Watched Bad Santa starring Billy Bob Thornton on the flight to Bali, and just gotta say it was frickin' hilarious. I guess I had no idea what the movie was about and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the dialogue in the movie especially scenes with Bernie Mac.

25th Hour

Just watched Spike Lee's 25th hour the other night...very good movie, one of the best I've seen as of late. I know the movie's been out for a while, but I'm not really a movie buff and most movies I've seen this year have been shit...like Troy and others I've completely forgotten.

Gotta give props to Edward Norton, great actor. Spike did a great job of creating that ominous and helpless atmoshpere.

Is it me or have movies generally been shit this year? I'm not the kind who has to watch deep movies or anything, but most have not even been very entertaining. But then again as I said, I'm not a huge movie buff. Enjoyed Collateral...not many others I'm looking forward to. Except I guess Meet the Fokkers.
